Welcome to Group 3 with
Miss Jones!

Welcome back to the last term before the Summer!

Our topic for the This term  is 'Playlist' which is all about exploring music and sound. The children will be doing lots of  music based activities, including listening to and creating music. We will also be studying the' Iron Man' by Ted Hughes in literacy. The children will be creating their own iron man and developing their understanding of the Story and its characters.
This term the children will taking part in the Shakespeare festival, performing Richard III, which will be held in Clifton Park on the 22nd of June.  This is an exciting opportunity for the children to be able to  perform in front of an audience.

Times Tables
Times tables are incredibly important and I would encourage you to help your child with these at home.  In year 3 the children are expected to learn 3, 4 and 8 timestables. Please note that the children are expected to know all the timestables up to 12 x 12 by the end of year 4!

The children are currently learning spellings from the recommended spelling list for year 3 and 4. There will be a spelling test every Monday.

Children should be listened to read every night for about 10 minutes. Please write this in your child’s reading diary and return to school on a Friday to be checked by an adult. Bug club is an excellent way for children to enhance their reading and comprehension skills.  All children have their own login details to access this.

PE is now being taught on Monday and Thursday. Please bring appropriate outdoor PE kit as this term the children will be doing Tennis. Kit consists of a white T shirt, black shorts/jogging bottoms and suitable outdoor footwear. We are very lucky to have Mrs Towers leading our PE session and sharing her expertise. We aim to get outside for PE where possible so please make sure they have appropriate kit and footwear.

A list of suggested homework activities for this Topic are attached to the class information. These are not compulsory but are a really good way of extending your child's learning and getting them fully engaged in the Topic.

To keep our school looking nice and tidy, can we please remind you to make sure that children have suitable indoor slippers or pumps.
If you have any questions about how you can support your child’s learning in Group 3 please come in and ask.

Please see our term schedule for more detailed information about the events which are taking place in school.

Thank you,

Miss Jones
