Welcome toThrybergh Fullerton C of E Primary Academy

Class 1 - Miss Jones

Welcome to Class 1 with Miss Jones, Mrs Spencer

We are looking forward to lots of new learning opportunities over the coming weeks.

In our new topic School Day, the children will learn about their own school and locality, both today and in the past. They will compare schooling in the Victorian era to their experience today. They will also will have a Victorian school experience to gain a better understanding of what life was like in the Victorian classroom.. We will look at who Samuel Wilderspin is and how his views and actions in the past changed school life today. As part of our science learning, we will learn all about food sources and will prepare and make their own salad and design and make their own sandwich. As part of our art learning we will look at the work of artist James Rizzi and create our own 3-D mural of buildings that surround the school.

Class 1's P.E sessions this half term will take place on a Thursday and Friday. The Thursday lesson will be inside but the Friday lesson will be outside so please send your child with suitable outdoor clothing on this day including trainers, a long sleeved top and full length trousers. Please could you ensure that earrings are removed on these days so that your child is able to take part in the lesson as we cannot remove these in school. Thank you.

A pack of spellings has been sent home for your child to learn weekly. The Year 1 spelling test will take place every Thursday, We thank you for your help in supporting your child with this.

Book bags will be needed in school every day and will be changed in our class library every week. Please remember we have our reading awards for reading at home so please record your child's reading in their planners so they can earn the following reading awards:

Bronze- 50 reads

Silver- 100 reads

Listening to your child read for just ten minutes each day can have a significant impact on their learning. Thank you for supporting your child in this.
