This term our topic is Burps, Bottoms and Bile. Open wide – let’s take a look inside. We’re on a voyage of discovery to investigate the busy world inside your body. Do you have a toothy grin or a winning smile? Take dental impressions and test the effects of sugary substances on your pearly whites. Follow a tasty morsel as it makes its way through your digestive system, helped by some mouth-watering saliva. And don’t forget the importance of good hygiene at both ends. And whilst we’re talking business, could you recognise an animal just by its poo? Are you brave enough to take the challenge? Make a working model of the digestive system and use it to persuade others to eat healthily. Learn how to look after this marvellous belching, squelching, mixture making machine we call our body.
Our class text this term is a fantasy novel by David Walliams - Demon Dentist.
In December we will have a change in topics and learn about the Frozen Kingdoms. This project teaches children about the characteristics and features of polar regions, including the North and South Poles, and includes a detailed exploration of the environmental factors that shape and influence them.
Children will be asked to complete the following tasks:
× 15 minutes reading at home (at least 3x a week)
× Spellings that will be tested each Friday
× Times Tables Rock Stars at least 3 times a week
× SPAG task
Homework will be given out every Friday and will be expected to be handed in by the following Wednesday at the latest.
PE will be twice a week and it is expected that children have a full change of PE kit - children should bring their PE kit to school on a Monday and take it home to be washed on a Thursday.
Our whole class PE session will be on a Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday afternoons Year 4 will have swimming lessons which will count as their second PE lesson whilst Year 3 will then have their second PE session. Please ensure earrings are not worn on these days.
