Year Three

 

In the Summer term, we have some exciting topics planned for the term ahead.  Please see below for all of the information.

Mathematics
This term in mathematics, pupils will continue to strengthen their understanding of times tables while applying them in a range of problem-solving activities. They will also be introduced to new concepts such as fractions, money and time, developing their confidence in using maths in real-life contexts.

Literacy
In literacy, children will explore a wordless book. The pictures will tell the story. Through this engaging text, pupils will continue to develop their creative imaginations, vocabulary, and structure.

Science
In science, they will examine and investigate plant nutrition, taking a closer look at how plants grow and flourish. We will also be studying light and shadows, exploring how our eyes allow us to see.

Religious Education (RE)
This term in RE, pupils will deepen their understanding of other World beliefs including Islam and Judaism. They will learn how these religions celebrate God and how their religious festivals shape faith and practice.

Geography
In geography, children will take a closer look at different geographical features including rivers and lakes. Investigating their beginning, end and everything in-between. 

Art
In art, pupils will study the bold, abstract prints by Paul Klee and Gordy Wright, a local artist famous for his children's book illustrations. Inspired by this abstract style, they will have the opportunity to work more creatively using printing and mark-making. 

Music
In music, children will continue learning to play the recorder, developing their technical skills and musical confidence. They will also be practicing their singing, preparing for the Fullerton Festival.

Computing
This term in computing, pupils will dive into the world of digital media. They will take inspiration from other types of digital media (eg, magazines, newspapers, postcards and more) to create a digital newspaper article about a topic of their choosing.

PSHE
In PSHE, pupils will explore how to respond positively to challenges. They will learn about perseverance, resilience, and strategies for overcoming difficulties, helping to build confidence and a growth mindset.


Homework
Homework will be set weekly and includes:

·       Reading school reading books for 15 minutes at least three times a week
Weekly spellings

·       Practising times tables on Reflex Maths at least three times a week to keep times table knowledge sharp and efficient

·       Homework in homework books

·
