Prayer Spaces

Prayer Space at Thrybergh Fullerton Primary School

As a school rooted in Christian values, we believe that providing prayer spaces supports the holistic development and wellbeing of every child.

Why Do We Have Prayer Spaces?

Prayer spaces are a vital part of life at Fullerton because they offer children a peaceful place to pause, think, and pray whenever they feel the need. These spaces are designed to nurture the spirit and encourage reflection, which is essential for living life in all its fullness —our school’s vision inspired by John 10:10.

Prayer spaces help children to:

Express their feelings and thoughts in a safe and supportive place.
Build a personal connection with God, fostering spiritual growth.
Develop virtues like respect, courage, honesty, and perseverance by reflecting on their actions and choices.
Find calm and focus, which supports their social and emotional wellbeing.

How Prayer Spaces Reflect Our Vision and Virtues

Our prayer spaces are more than just an area in the classroom; they are places that embody the values we hold dear at Fullerton:

Respect: Children learn to honour their own thoughts and those of others, reflecting the love and dignity taught through the story of Ruth.
Perseverance: Prayer spaces encourage children to keep trusting and believing, even when things are challenging, just like the Israelites did at Jericho.
Courage: They provide a safe place to be brave in facing fears and challenges, inspired by David’s courage against Goliath.
Honesty: Children are invited to be truthful in their prayers and reflections, embracing integrity as Abraham did.
These spaces support our vision of nurturing the whole child—spiritually, morally, socially, and personally—helping each child realise their full potential.

Prayer Spaces Are Always Available

Each classroom at Thrybergh Fullerton has its own prayer space, open to all children at any time during the school day. Whether a child wants to say a quick prayer, think quietly, or spend time reflecting, the prayer space is there to support them.

We want every child to know that their prayers and reflections are valued deeply. There is no right or wrong way to use the prayer space—it's a personal place to connect, share worries, give thanks, or simply be still.

Your Prayers Are Valued

At Fullerton, every prayer matters. We believe that prayer is a powerful way to communicate, find comfort, and grow in faith. Children are encouraged to share their prayers if they wish, and these are always treated with respect and care.

Prayer spaces are a reminder that we are part of a loving community where everyone is supported and valued, reflecting the spirit of love and hope that guides us.

How You Can Use the Prayer Space

Visit the prayer space any time you need a moment of calm.
Use the materials provided to say your prayers.
Reflect on the Bible stories and verses that inspire our virtues.
Share your prayers with a teacher or friend if you want to.

In our daily act of collective worship we all say the Lord's prayer together. This year we took part in the Lord's prayer journey on the 10th October.  This was where we all came together to explore the meaning of the Lord's prayer.  This activity was to enable pupils to reflect on the words we say and renew our saying.

As a class we all have a lunchtime prayer which we use to be mindful about the food that is provided for us and to remember those who do not have what we do.
