School Council

In school we operate a house system where all children are in one of our four houses.  The houses are Jericho, Moab, Elah and Hebron.  We are proud of this system which encourages the children to become a community and work together to support and encourage one another.  The school council, which is made up of the heads and deputies of houses, gives pupils the opportunity to get more involved in the way the school is run and to lead assemblies. They work to make improvements to the school and the way things are done.  The School Council benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers, because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made. Pupils are able to develop skills such as confidence, communication, debating skills and negotiation. It is the responsibility of each Councillor to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the other pupils they represent.

What we have been doing...

  • We organised a bake sale to raise money for a memorial bench in honour of Mrs Dewsnap. The children and staff will always remember her and the amazing work she did with all of us.

  • We organised a 'Design a pair of Odd Socks' competition. Each pair of councillors chose a winner and awarded them a prize.

  • The school council decided together that for Red Nose Day everyone would dress up as Mr Men and Little Miss characters.
