Year Three

 

In the Spring term, we have some exciting topics planned for the term ahead.  Please see below for all of the information.

Mathematics
This term in mathematics, pupils will continue to strengthen their understanding of times tables while applying them in a range of problem-solving activities. They will also be introduced to new concepts such as measurement and fractions, developing their confidence in using maths in real-life contexts.

Literacy
In literacy, children will travel back in time as they explore an exciting story set in the Stone Age, closely linked to our history topic. Through this engaging text, pupils will continue to develop their writing skills, focusing on creativity, vocabulary, and structure.

Science
In science, how this area of physics plays a part in everyday life. They will explore how forces work and how magnets interact with different materials through hands-on experiments.

Religious Education (RE)
This term in RE, pupils will deepen their understanding of Christianity by exploring the significance of the Holy Trinity. They will learn about its importance within Christian belief and how it shapes faith and practice.

Geography
In geography, children will take a closer look at their local area. They will explore key features, develop map skills, and gain a better understanding of the place they live in and how it is used.

Art
In art, pupils will study the detailed and expressive work of Vincent Van Gogh. Inspired by his impressionist style, they will build their drawing skills while developing creativity and a deeper appreciation for art.

Music
In music, children will continue learning to play the recorder, developing their technical skills and musical confidence. They will also explore how music can express and influence emotions.

Computing
This term in computing, pupils will dive into the world of animation. They will use online programmes to create their own digital animations, developing creativity alongside key computing skills.

PSHE
In PSHE, pupils will explore how to respond positively to challenges. They will learn about perseverance, resilience, and strategies for overcoming difficulties, helping to build confidence and a growth mindset.


Homework
Homework will be set weekly and includes:

·       Reading school reading books for 15 minutes at least three times a week
Weekly spellings

·       Practising times tables on Reflex Maths at least three times a week to keep times table knowledge sharp and efficient

·       Homework in homework books

·
