Our Intent

The aim at Thrybergh Fullerton is to provide opportunities for children to develop as independent, confident, resilient and successful lifelong learners. Our pupils will understand how to make and manage positive relationships both in person and online, how to lead a healthy lifestyle and manage their finances. They will be given opportunities to make a positive contribution to their local communities and to develop their cultural capital.

Through the implementation of a broad and balanced curriculum, we aim for our children to have high aspirations and to make an active and positive contribution to their school, their community and wider society, now and in the future. We want our children to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to be able to keep safe and healthy, both mentally and physically.

PSHE curriculum in intended to prepare children for their future lives in equipping them with the skills and knowledge to be competitive in the future job market and to make sure that they are always safe. Children will learn to value who they are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever changing world.

We intend for the children at Fullerton to leave us feeling confident, to make healthy life choices, lead a positive life, and where they can, make active contributions to their communities and wider world.

Implementation

Our PSHE curriculum is a 'spiral curriculum' where concepts are regularly revisited to ensure that meaningful connections are made. 

The children are taught the same units each year through the Jigsaw scheme of work, where prior learning is used as a foundation for new learning which is subsequently well developed.

Prior learning is referenced throughout the scheme of work and children become very familiar with the content and structure.

Long Term Overview EYFS-Y6

At Fullerton, from EYFS to Year 6 we cover the same topics in the same term, through the academic year. This introduces topics in EYFS and let's children revisit them each year to build on prior knowledge and explore further.

British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote the British Values in school, to ensure our young individuals leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Our pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is 'right' and 'wrong', all people living in Britain are subject to it's law.

Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education

Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way.

This is the Department for Education have made Relationships Education compulsory in all primary schools in England and Relationships and Sex Education compulsory in all secondary schools, as well as making Health Education compulsory in all state-funded schools.

World Animal Day

October 4th was World Animal Day. For the day, we researched different endangered species, the effects humans have on habitats and how we can help to sustain their life.  The children sketched some pictures and made some fact files about the different animals.

F2 met the Jigsaw family

In PSHE F2 have been thinking about our special world and the people in it. This week they have met our Jigsaw family and discussed what makes them special. We then moved onto our own families, who makes them and why they are so special.

PC Paul visits Y5 and Y6

PC Paul came to talk to the children about Water Safety. After the increased deaths of young people within the local area, South Yorkshire Police have highlighted this to be a highly important topic. 

PSHE / RE

During their RE lessons, Y6 wrote their own songs and poems about global problems and issues. A lot of these issues we have discussed in PSHE and helped the children with this activity.

Look what's happening to the world, it isn't right,

People at war, hear them fight.

People don't have clean water, 

they are having to barter.

People - Riley

Look at the world, look what we've done.

People struggling to breathe from the effects of pollution,

we need to find the perfect solution.

People using guns all the time,

This has become a major crime.

People littering in the street,

after they eat.

People saying racist words,

is getting on my nerves!

The Earth - Alex

What have we done to the Earth?

This isn't what they deserve.

Animals leaping, people screaming,

don't give up, keep on dreaming. 

Pollution, smoke, dust, wires,

wars, rape, murders and fires. 

PC Paul visits F2

F2 had a visit from PC Paul to learn about 'Super Heroes and People Who help Us.' They discussed how the police and emergency services can help. Some of the children had the chance to dress as a police officer!
